Didn't oil companies used to have to bribe congress to do their dirty work??

Seems everybody wants to just hand over everything to them now.. Convenient how this ';oil crisis'; works for them...

Let em drill on our beaches.. The wildlife refuge.. Is Mt. Rushmore next??Didn't oil companies used to have to bribe congress to do their dirty work??
In America, its ok to bribe politicians - just so long as you do it through a PAC and report the ';contribution'; to the Federal Election Commission.

You can go on their website and see how much your Representative, Senator, or Candidate is receiving and from whom. See for yourself at the link below. Some politicians, such as Obama, refuse to accept contributions from PACs known to support the oil industry, but that doesn't mean that they don't get money from more innocuous sounding PACs, or use indirect means to exert influence (like supporting friends).

Also. To be fair. Just because a contribution slips through doesn't mean that the politician is influenced. Some politicians' campaigns take in $35 or $40million a month, so a million isn't necessarily going to buy them. Just make them smile a bit more when their lobbyists come to call.Didn't oil companies used to have to bribe congress to do their dirty work??
You may want to get a little better informed before you spout off.

There hasn't been an oil spill from drilling since the late 60's. Even during Katrina when many oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico were destroyed no oil was spilled. Those evil oil companies have yet to receive any credit for the engineering that prevents environmental damage. If Bill Clinton hadn't blocked drilling in Anwar we would have that oil flowing in now and we would probably be paying about $2.00 to $2.50 a gallon. Also we need more refineries. I am tired of the environmental Gestapo being given an absolutely free hand to spread disinformation with no one standing up to them.
When it comes to the price Americans are paying for gasoline at the pump, will conservatives in Congress fight tooth and nail to increase domestic production or will they wimp out and allow liberals to choke off your supply of oil and increase gas prices even higher.

That's the question that hangs like a storm cloud over each of us... over our children... and over our grandchildren.

Liberals in Congress have already tried repeatedly TO INCREASE THE PRICE WE PAY AT THE PUMP even as the price of a gallon of gasoline rose to more than $4.00!

Harry Reid and others in the Senate tried to sneak the Boxer Climate Bill past the American people. That legislation, according to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell would have raised the price at the pump as much as $1.40 a gallon -- that's on top of the more than $4.00 you're already paying!

When the Boxer Climate bill failed, liberals tried again last Tuesday to ram through additional taxes on gasoline.

On Thursday, Representative John Peterson proposed a measure that would have lifted the ban on oil exploration in areas between 50 to 200 miles off the United Sates coast, a restriction that had been in place since 1981! On a straight party-line vote, Democrats/Liberals on the House Appropriations Subcommittee killed the measure dead!

Then, on Saturday, Senator Barack Obama joined with other Democrats and called for a ';windfall profits tax'; on gasoline -- a tax for which consumers will undoubtedly end up footing the bill , at the pump.!

And make no mistake -- Liberals in Congress, bowing to the radical environmental groups that openly support HIGHER GAS PRICES, will not quit! They will not stop until they have raised the price of gasoline even more!

Obama is a far left Liberal, he is more left than anyone else in Congress.
The oil fro the war would pay for the war, I guess Ex-on ,BP ,SHELL are going to pay off some of the debt we incurred so they can now get their oil from Iraq%26lt; isn t it great how that works!!!We have such a generous and smart president, he was really looking out for us after all!!! Imagine all this time I thought he loved Iraq better, building them hospitals, healthcare, schools, democracy, we are a great nation, such charity, its okay we borrrow fromChina for this, that s why everyone loves us!!!
Obviously. That's what happens when an oil President is elected. The most logical thing for them to do is to drop the hammer near the end of their reign so the the succeeding administration will be blamed for all of our economic ills.
Don't forget the ';Drillin''; they are giving America.
Yep! Did you see how easy it was for them to waltz right back in to Iraq to claim the oil with no-bid contracts?
Yeah. Gosh I wonder what happened.
