Is it true that Palin was backed by the Oil Companies?

Alaska is run by big oil and oil revenues to the state government pays most of the bills and they even have enough left over to give everyone who lives in the state a check for over $3000 a year. With that kind of money at stake almost no one in Alaska opposes drilling or any thing else they want, and certainly no politician does. Is it true that Palin was backed by the Oil Companies?
It would be a surprise if she wasn't. She has common sense and understands that it is asinine not to drill for our own oil, both in the wasteland that is ANWR and offshore. The oil companies know this would help them, and the rest of us, and they support the idea- as does the vast majority of Americans.
