Do you think that the government bases foreign oil policy on the needs of Americans, or the greed of companies?

I ask because I sometimes hear people state ';If they are stealing oil then why hasn't the price of gas gone down?';, as to say they are doing it for the people. When the reality is they do very little for the people and very much for the corporations that buy them.

Do you think that the government bases foreign oil policy on the needs of Americans, or the greed of companies?Do you think that the government bases foreign oil policy on the needs of Americans, or the greed of companies?
The government does whats in its parties best interest. They dont give a crap about anyone else.Do you think that the government bases foreign oil policy on the needs of Americans, or the greed of companies?
foreign oil supported Obama and Obama supports foreign oil...that's how the policy is made...

always nosnod
First, in a free nation, which we are supposed to be, as opposed to a socialist one, there should be no oil policy or energy policy.

That said, I think it's pretty clear that most of our politicians are working for the special interests that purchase their favors. Why would the major oil companies make such donations to the candidates - frequently to both candidates? Do you think they are just public spirited?

The solution: force our politicians to abide by the Constitution. The Constitution does not give them any authority with regard to oil or energy. By allowing them to legislate in areas prohibited to them by the Constitution, we allow them to engage in corruption.
The greed of the guvmint - where can they collect the most taxes to buy more votes.
While the two are probably convergent - America runs on oil, and oil companies make a profit on it - oil's status as a strategic resource (modern militaries run on it) is probably the overriding concern, even in our post-cold-war era.
Based on speculators and Crooks we call our Government. But then again our own butts should be kicked,we voted them in and continue to do so. The fault lies within ourselves and no one else. We do love to pass the buck do we not???
You are kidding right.

Our govenment care about the people.

Not in my long life here.
greed of the companies at least under a republican administration.
