won't they just relocate their headquarters to Dubai, Saudi, or some other more friendly country? Isn't the draconian attitude towards ';big business'; what prompts outsourcing?
I could be wrong, could someone give me some insight on this?If we punish those big mean Oil companies...?
You bring up a very good point.
If we could turn our country into a tax-haven for companies .. imagine the economic bliss we would enjoy if overseas companies were moving their headquarters to America instead of vice-versa.
Thats one reason I support the Fair Tax - HR25.If we punish those big mean Oil companies...?
Yes, It's like cutting off your nose to spite your face. They already make 98% of their profits in other countries. The only incentive to staying in production in the US is the stability factor. Most other countries have nationalized their oil production after US companies have come in and spent billions to develop their industry.
If Congress continues to use punitive taxes and regulations or nationalizes our oil industry, there will be no reason to stay here at all. Government, without severe limits, will continue to usurp our liberty and destroy our economy. It's time to get back to employing the Constitution, not just talking about it.
There is some validity to what you are saying. If the US congress puts radical restrictions on American companies doing business here, but not those same type companies doing business in say, I don't know, CHINA what would be the point of staying here in the states. They could move their headquarters to another country and do the same amount of business here, but little restrictions. Look at all the issues we had with Chines imports last year, with little to no standards like our American companies have they were trying to kill our animals with contaminated animal food products, and all the lead in toys, then contaminated by products in our medicine. Give me a break!
You are comparing apples and oranges here. he single factor that most frequently results in outsourcing is the cost of employing people. Why pay an American worker $20 an hour when you can pay someone from the Third World 25 cents per hour.
I've yet to hear a satisfactory explanation as to why a 48 percent increase in profits does not constitute price gouging. Thye profit spike suggests that the price at the pump has been inflated beyond what is necessary to recompense the oil companies for their added expenses.
Considering that we are in the middle of the president's war on terror, gasoline pricing represents the definition of war profiteering. It can be viewed as an act of sabotage against the United States economy.
If not a windfall profits taqx, what remedy would you suggest to keep other firms from following the oil companies' example?
Remember, wartime saboteurs generally have bigger problems than paying a one-time excess profits tax.
The democrats are strident Marxists who want to destroy America to force us into socialism and communism. They hate the businesses which have given us the highest standard of living in the world. And they hate working people keeping some of their pay checks. Instead, the leftists want us all to be dependent on government for our very lives. I am not interested in living like that.
We need to remove all the democrats from office, and encourage the leftists to move to Russia or China where they will be much happier.
They don't care. They'll just make it up by taking it from the consumers.
How exactly are we going to 'punish' big oil?
Do you realize how much taxes and profits and payoff to senators they bring in to the states ? Why would we kick them out ?
