What ever happened to price goulging ?oil companies just do what they want and the man in the big seat doesnt?

care cause hes getting richer,how far are they gonna pound us into the ground??What ever happened to price goulging ?oil companies just do what they want and the man in the big seat doesnt?
Good luck proving it. Almost every major company gets the same gasoline from the same local refiner. Then it is shipped to the terminal of the company owner and the additive (techron for Chevron) is added and then shipped to the individual gas station owner.

The problem is that there is not enough competition. ExxonMobil were allowed to join forces after complaining to the govt. that they could not be profitable separately. And we see where that went.

Break up the oil conglomerates and force more competition on the open market. Then watch prices drop.What ever happened to price goulging ?oil companies just do what they want and the man in the big seat doesnt?
Nancy Pelosi pledged in 2006 that she was going to take care of it. We're still waiting...

“Democrats have a plan to lower gas prices, taking America in a new direction that works for everyone, not just the few. Our plan would empower the Federal Trade Commission to crack down on price gouging to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices, increase production of alternative fuels, and rescind the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks, and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies.”
Did you ever graduate from the 2nd grade?

Did you know that the largest portion of the price of a gallon of gas is the FEDERAL TAX!

Did you know that there is a problem with the oil companies being able to find, drill and refine the oil here in this country? And did you know that it is the liberal democrats who are the root causes of a majority of the problems with the price of oil?

And did you know that there are many other companies, say Oprah, Inc., or Martha Stewart, Inc. that have presidents/CEO's that earn more than any of the oil company presidents?

Did you know that the oil company execs get paid based upon a percentage of what the company has made in sales?

The bottom line here is that your question has demonstrated your ignorance of the economic system of this country and what supply and demand really is. And that ignorance I blame entirely on the liberal democrats who have taken the study of economics and civics out of the classroom and replaced them with multicultural ';stuff'; that is absolutely useless.
first of all, there's no man in the big seat getting richer.. it's the shareholders and investors makn the big bucks.. look, the bulk of the cost of gasoline at the pump is in taxes.. that is fact. the profit margin for oil companies is not that great. it's just that we ALL use gasoline.. you sell 20 items at .05 each, there's more money to be made than selling 1 item at .50. all i'm saying is, your hatred is misdirected.. it should be directed at Congress.. which passes the tax laws.. and at those who won't allow processes which would make us less dependant on foreign oil.. i.e. new drilling, new refineries, less govt subsidizing of commodities, etc etc..
Oil companies don't determine the price of oil. The market does. A free market at it's best. We Americans have been spoiled with low gasoline prices for too long. Our country is built on a path of unsustainability. We are just now beginning to feel the effects.

jasonsluck13 - the price of gas is NOT mostly taxes! Gasoline futures are at $3.288 a gallon today. Add in taxes and the production and distribution margin and you get what you pay at the pump. So, the tax is only about 10-15% of what you pay. That aint most.

See the 2nd to last paragraph in the link...

';while gasoline futures rose 5.2 cents to $3.2886 a gallon';

His big seat is getting larger by the day. Hell he can barely walk as it is.

Michael is wrong. Federal tax is about 18 cents per gallon. Gas co gets about 10% according to them, which is 40 cents today.
Yes, Microsoft is still price gouging. Oil companies make less per gallon than state and federal government does.

Inflation adjusted price per gallon is about where it was under Carter, who knows how much he made?
FYI there are countries out there that already made a successfull transition to ethanol fuels and retrofit vehicles and distribution.
Pay the deficit already yes that means taxes.

The dollar will increase in value imported oil will drop, eliminate the oil tax breaks and then we can make a case
';W'; ';W' 'W'; ';W'; ';W'; ';W'; ';W'; ';W'; AND WTH MCCAIN 8 MORE ';W's';
Oil companies do not determine the price of oil.

Anything else?
Going on every day
I dont know but they need to do something.

I'm going into the poor house. lol
