No. They can make a lot more money, by cutting out the middle men if they can produce their own gasoline.Isn't it in the Oil companies best intrest to see that no oil refineries are built?
Yes, that is why there are no new oil refineries being built. More money for the oil companies, the likes of Exxon and Mobile Oil.
yes it IS in their best interest
Yeah.
Greens are doing a good job of driving up gas prices and again noone is stopping them because it helps thier money suppliers.
Very few people are actually environmentally concious to thier own detriment. They will inflict thier ideas on others at no cost to themselves, or will use the power to stifle competition.
Get the Federal Government out of the economy. Bring back Property Rights.
yes absolutely. They can make more money by selling less product because it is an essential need, not a discressionary expense. If they are making less, they need fewer employees, which means less on healthcare costs, less on pension funding, etc.
The oil companies have been blaming insufficient production capacity for years, yet their profits get bigger and bigger.
Yes. It's also in their intrest to order Blackwater to blow up every Iraqi oil field they can when Democrats order the troops out of Iraq.
($6-7 a gallon gas when that happens)
.
They can't build new refineries. Not at today's asking prices.
Even if they could, it wouldn't meet the rising demand of US consumers and the world itself.
And no, this isn't the environmentalists fault!
Yes. The diamond industry limits the supply to artificially inflate the price.
that sounds like their plan!?
but... then again... what can we do?
We cannot force them to dump $10 billion to build a new refinery!??
And well... if we had the gov't get involved.... that would be one more step to an inefficient socialist society. (kind of working backwards, no?)
What can we do?
Incentives or competition.
Bio fuels have been 'squashed' for the last ten years.
Why not give BIO fuels incentives... to give the giant oil companies some competition?
Allow the Brazilians in... and start from there!
or is that too scarey for America?
(Its either scarey high Oil prices! Or foreign competition!)
good question
They have shut down some refineries to make sure that they can drive the prices up
