Do you really believe that the oil situation is the fault of the oil companies as our politicians keep trying?

to tell ys?Do you really believe that the oil situation is the fault of the oil companies as our politicians keep trying?
as if I'd believe our politicians

good luck with that one Senator Feinstein

politicians are always trying to pass the $

look at Hillary

oh the reason I voted for the Iraq war

well its all Bush's fault

he lied to me

he told me it wasn't a real warDo you really believe that the oil situation is the fault of the oil companies as our politicians keep trying?
The oil companies and the speculators are in business to make money. There's nothing wrong with that. It is the government's responsibility, however, to represent the interests of the American people. If that means reining in the oil companies and regulating the markets, then they should do it.

The oil companies don't pay millions of dollars each year to lobbyists to represent their interests for no good reason. We have to be concerned about who is representing our interests.
McSame has the answer partially right.--the politician's are at fault. The oil companies attempted to tell Congress that this was coming but Congress just laughed and called them liars. This was in the late 1960's. The reason that I know this--my uncle (a petroleum engineer} was one of several men who testified before the U.S. Senate in 1968-1969 and was called a liar by Ted Kennedy
The problem with that theory is that the oil companies do not set the price for barrels of oil. The cost of the crude oil is the major portion of a gallon of gasoline. I think it's around 75% of the cost.

Secondly, oil companies make less profit off of gas than the US government does through the taxes on it.
I firmly believe it is the fault of both. And for those who want to continue harping on the ';environmentalist who won't let us drill our own oil';...i say POPPYCOCK!!! We have oil wells that are capped that could be pumping oil, but you don't see the oil companies trying to increase production. We all remember the big 'tax break' that the oil companies recieved in the Energy Bill that they were going to use that money to update their refineries...which hasn't happend. They want to build new refineries - except no one in the ';upper class'; want them to build it in their neighborhoods. The same thing goes for drilling....everyone wants to drill in ANWR, but there is oil just off the coast of the Hamptons %26lt;playground of the very rich%26gt; and in several other viable areas besides ANWR and the only reason they are not drilling is because the rich don't want the oil rigs in thier back yard bringing down property values. Get off the kick concerning the 'environmentalist' and wake up to realize that it's not them. How about drilling in Yosemite? How about drilling in your own backyard? Would you do it for the good of the country??? The oil companies are lining their pockets because they know that this is Bush's last term and after this they won't have one of thier 'oil buddies' in the WH anymore. They are gouging us for everything it is worth!!

And just as it has been mentioned, the auto industry has had 30 years since the last ';oil crisis'; and by this time could have converted over to a form of transportation that did not require gas - but they didn't.
No, I don't. I think it's the politicians fault for pandering to the environmental groups and not allowing us to drill for the oil that is under our own ground. If you don't believe it's congress' fault, look at all the time they are wasting with their hearings on oil prices, and how hard they are working to place the blame on someone else. Thats what my four year old does when he breaks something. He spends 5 minutes explaining how it wasn't him, and why it's somebody else's fault.
it is the fault of the oil companies and the lobbyists and the politicians that have been suppressing new technology for oil profits......... it is a shame that we are using the same fuel that we used a hundred years ago.
yes it is they made 34 billion in one quarter why not take a little less to help out our country but what hacks me off they will raise crude on some rumor they hear that hasnt even occured i spilled about a half gallon og gas while putting it in my mower but shhhh if they hear about it they may raise the price
Not entirely, Plenty of fault to go around, England is paying $9 a gallon, as is Norway among other places.

The gas powered engine will soon I think become obsolete, as it has been for over 50 years.
There is plenty of blame to go around.

1. Bush for lowering the interest rates and devalueing the dollar.

2. Congress for doing nothing, cause Big Oil is campaingn donors

3. Opec for jacking the price up for no f'in reason
Its the fault of the oil producers first plus environmentalists who block every single attempt we make to increase oil production or create a substitute for same.
No, it is more the fault of our politicians. they are just attempting to pass blame onto an ignorant american society.
No. Unless you want me to believe that Exxon is the one that put all those federal and state excise taxes on thier own product.
No, it's the fault of the idiots running the Country
No giant oil companies are just giant fuzzy teddy bears that can do no wrong, OF COURSE IT IS THE OIL COMPANIES FAULT.
Is the coalition of the will **** you Mobil, BP, and Shell faults.
It pure economics. Supply and demand.
No I don't but good luck convincing people of that..
not at all... It's the Dems blocking everything we try to help America.

Why should Norway and UK and Saudi arabia ';ruin their environment'; by drilling and not the US.
