You obviously voted for Obama. Oil companies profits are less than most major corporations, with the profits only being between 8 and 9%. The auto companies have to solve their own problems. My bread and butter has been from the auto industry, and poor management, poor planning and government mandates have killed the industry. Oil is so expensive again because of the US government. They won't allow new refineries to be built, they won't allow drilling offshore, they won't allow drilling in areas of Alaska where they know there is oil. If Ford, Chrysler and GM fail...so be it. Honda, Toyota , Hyundai, VW etc will build more plants here, and the industry will continue.

Shouldn't oil companies be required to contribute funding for bailing out U.S. automakers?
Seeing that oil companies' mammoth profits are largely tied to fuel usage by automobiles and trucks, I think they would, or rather should, have a vested interest in keeping auto manufacturers alive and flourishing. Until we can develop the technology to curb or cease our dependency on oil, oil companies should do whatever they can to support building and selling vehicles.Shouldn't oil companies be required to contribute funding for bailing out U.S. automakers?
