...but you could also look to ETFs... USO, DBO, OIH
...also if you're using yahoo, when you get a quote for an oil company...you can also click on the tab for '; components';...and it will tell you which funds hold that particular company , and the percentage.Which mutual funds are invested in oil companies?
Scads of them.
For instance, Exxon (XOM) has some 53 percent ';institutional'; ownership, a fancy way of saying that mutual funds, insurance company investment pools, etc. own about half of that company. Similarly, ConocoPhillips (COP), a company I used to work for years ago (as in one of the two that merged), has some 80 percent institutionally owned.
Any mutual fund that contains the stocks of the Dow Jones Industrial averages or the Standard %26amp; Poors 500 has money in oil companies, several of them, because oil companies are well represented on both lists.Which mutual funds are invested in oil companies?
